We Gave Greenpeace a Chance

Less stunts, more organizing.

In what has become typical of the Greenpeace style of stunt activism, a protester recently scaled Trump Tower with a flag that read, “Resist.” It was placed next to a picture of a globe with “Defend” written on it.

This was a response to the breakdown in the G20 talks, which left the president isolated over his unwillingness to curb America’s staggering greenhouse emissions.

Greenpeace USA released a statement, in what could only be some kind of performative naiveté, saying “Activists with Greenpeace USA are at Trump International Hotel in downtown Chicago, preparing to send a message that the Trump Administration can’t ignore.” Having ignored the G20, the president would, of course, ignore a feeble banner.
