As the 2016 presidential candidates gather their donors for the next leg of campaigning across the country, adult film star Colby Keller has embarked on a different kind of tour. “Colby Keller Does America” is his new project to travel to all fifty states and make fun, diverse, and beautiful porn in each one, with professional artists and ordinary people alike.

1,147 people donated to the project in the first month — an impressive feat in an age of ubiquitous free pornography — likely due to the relationship he’s developed with fans on his blog Big Shoe Diaries (very NSFW). Since 2009 the blog has provided a window not only into bonus steamy shots of Keller, but also into his political consciousness.

Keller is a communist, which shows in posts featuring May Day art and musings on porn under capitalism, some of which are written by his partner under the name Karl Marxxx. We sat down with Keller to talk about his beliefs, organizing adult film industry workers, and the politics of pleasure.
